Rain, Fog and Winter: Why Bad Weather Makes Better Photos in Venice
Fog, mist and soft rain give Venice its most poetic mood. How to enjoy a photoshoot in bad weather, and what happens if it is too hard.

Many people postpone a photoshoot when the forecast is grey. For artistic photography, grey can be a gift.
Fog and mist
They soften the city and make it look like a painting. The background fades and you become the focus.
Light rain
Wet stone reflects the light, colours deepen and the streets empty. An umbrella or a coat can become part of the story.
Winter light
Low sun, long shadows and fewer tourists: a quieter, more intimate Venice.
What to wear
Dark or muted coats, boots, a scarf. Waterproof shoes help. Read what to wear for a photoshoot in Venice.
And if it is too hard?
If the weather makes the shoot impossible (heavy rain, strong wind or high water), we move it to another date at no cost.
